I make figurative ceramic sculptures that are a blend of human and animal. These chimeric creatures are metaphors for the complexities of identity. I utilize them to develop my own mythology to challenge sociopolitical binaries, specifically opening a discussion about the gray areas of gender identity. Observing these fantastical sculptures enables viewers to consider the nuances of identity and how one takes normative social tropes for granted. These interactions are catalyzing, and often spark transformative conversations.
